Mac Miller's album Blue Slide Park album sold 144,000 copies during the first day of it's release. Blue Slide Park was the #1 album on the Billboard Hot 100. This became the 2nd time an independent artist had their album #1 on Billboard.
20 year old rapper, Mac Miller, started rapping in his hometown, Pittsburgh. He first started rapping when he was 15 and went by the name EZ Mac. Mac Miller has 7 albums and the first of them came out in 2009. His most recent album, Blue Slide Park, came out on November 8, 2011. Blue Slide Park got its name from a local park in Pittsburgh called Blue Slide Playground. The album's songs were put in order of a story that can be found inside a hard copy of the album. The album became very popular and reached #1 on Billboard. This was the first time an independent artist got #1 on Billboard since 1996. English Lane- English Lane is the street that Blue Slide Park is on. The song is as if you are walking up to Blue Slide Park.
Blue Slide Park- This song doesn’t describe Blue Slide Park as some people thought it would. Instead it describes the feel you get when you go to Blue Slide Park.
Party on 5th Ave- Mac feels that this song has an old school feel to it so in the music video they all dressed up as old people and partied.
PA Nights- Mac says this is one of the deeper tracks on the album. He says that he has been to so many places that he never thought that he would be able to go. When he comes home he thinks about how crazy it is that he has gone to these places and that is what this song is about.
Frick Park Market-Mac describes this song as fun and full of energy. It takes you somewhere that you didn’t think the song would originally take you.
Smile Back- Mac says that this song is stress relieving when he performs it. He says with all of the bad things in the world, he doesn’t have anything to be sad about.
Under the Weather- Mac and his friends went out and bought $15,000 worth of random instruments and used every single one in this song.

Man in the Hat- Man in the Hat is Mac’s communication to a guy who can’t communicate.

The first single off of Blue Slide Park was Frick Park Market. The song was based off of the local market from where he grew up. Mac got permission to film the music video there."My favorite Mac Miller song is Frick Park Market. It is my favorite because I love the music video and I went to the place that they filmed it," said Hadly Clutter. Mac's 2nd real break-up song came out with this album. It's called Missed Calls."My favorite song is Missed Calls because its not about partying and like his normal stuff. It's about a real relationship," said Hanna Stark. The song rumored to be about Mac and his current girlfriend, Nomi. Up All Night was a very well received song. Mac described it as a straight up party song."My favorite song is Up All Night because it is upbeat and fun to listen to," said Emma Norton. One of Mac's most famous songs off of his older albums was Best Day Ever. The music video became very popular because it started out with him rapping when he was a kid.
